Boycott Wix

To my shame, I forgot to cancel my Wix subscription in time, and ended up paying a ridiculous amount of money for this site for another 3 years. This is frankly negligent and I'm not going to try and justify my failure. Don't be like me - just go straight to Squarespace.

I have been an active member of the Brunel Staff-Student Palestine Solidarity Group. Led by our student members, we launched a successful petition to the Vice-Chancellor of Brunel, opposing scholasticide. This led the university to make a statement on the destruction of the education system in Gaza.

Statement on BDS - 19 May 2021
I stand in solidarity with Palestinian friends and colleagues, and with Palestine, in the face of apartheid. I try to comply with the boycott of Israel as part of the BDS Movement, but on this occasion I have failed to do so.

Yesterday I was made aware that Wix is an Israeli company. This is a lesson for me - the thought never crossed my mind that I should check it out before signing up. I think because it is a "digital" brand, I forgot that it is also (still) material, "real".

Unfortunately I have just paid in advance for 3 years with Wix, and at the moment I don't have the resources to move to another web platform. I will do so as soon as I am able to.

In the meantime, I encourage those of you who are in a position to make a contribution to Medical Aid for Palestinians, and read about why we should all Boycott Wix.
